Film Review: Non-Stop

A claustrophobic and entertaining action/thriller, Non-Stop is now boarding; starring born-again action star Liam Neeson (Star Wars Episode I: Phantom Menace, Taken) and Julianne Moore (The Big Lebowski, Crazy Stupid Love), this film is a goofy, entertaining ride that is a surprising amount of fun.

Academy Awards 2014 Predictions

The 2014 Academy Awards are just around the corner - the movie industries night of nights is always one brimming with anticipation, and this year is no different. So, with just under a couple of weeks until the winners are announced, I take a stab at guessing who'll win what in the major categories.

Note: Not 100% accurate. 40-50% at most.

The films highlighted in purple are my predictions for who will most likely win, those in orange are those that could potentially cause an upset.

Film Review: Her

Joaquin Phoenix falls in love with his new operating system. But it is voiced by Scarlett Johansson, so who wouldn't? Here's my review of Spike Jonze's Her.

Film Review: Mandela - Long Walk to Freedom

A biopic on one of the 21st Century's most influential political figures, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is something of a mixed-bag in comparison to others in the genre; whilst it is a tonally consistent and respectful depiction of Nelson Mandela, you can't help feeling like they bit off more than they could chew.

Verdict: Sherlock Series 3

This post contains mild spoilers for Series 3 of Sherlock. You have been warned.

After two long years of waiting, BBC's Sherlock returned to our screens a few weeks back. With the sew-totally-hot-right-now Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular world's greatest detective and Bilbo Baggins (a.k.a Martin Freeman) as Dr. John Watson, the three-part third series continues to exemplify the true meaning of the phrase 'quality over quantity'.

Following on from THAT cliffhanger in 'The Reichenbach Fall', Series 3 doesn't dare pause for breath across the three 90-minute episodes. Each episode is a hectic, witty and intelligent mystery punctuated with some of the best character drama on television.

Film Review: RoboCop

First we had The Karate Kid, then Total Recall and now this; RoboCop, the 21st Century remake.

A direct remake of the 1987 sci-fi classic of the same name, RoboCop, the 2014 edition, is shiny and flashy, but instantly forgettable and illicits a swift shrug of the shoulders, accompanied by an abrupt "meh".

Film Review: The Wolf of Wall Street

Martin Scorsese's tale of sex, drugs and debauchery is now the highest-grossing R-rated movie in Australian history - and for good reason. The Wolf of Wall Street sees Scorsese re-team with Leonardo DiCaprio for the fourth time, and whilst it ain't for the faint hearted, it will knock your socks off.

This post contains spoilers for The Walking Dead - you have been warned

In just a few short years, The Walking Dead has become one TV's highest rating (and most highly-acclaimed) television shows. Commanding an audience of over 16 million Americans for the season 4 première last October, AMC's headline show has earned itself a loyal following around the world.

After leaving audiences shell-shocked with the climactic mid-season finale a few months back, The Walking Dead returns to television screens this week for the final eight episodes of Season 4. In order to mark the date, we've put together a list of our Top 5 Walking Dead episodes so far, with some honorary mentions thrown in for good measure.

Give them a read and let me know what you think!

Film Review: 12 Years A Slave

Very few films leave an entire theatre in stunned silence when the credits start to roll. No giggling or gossiping, but complete and utter silence.

12 Years A Slave however, did exactly that. The powerful, pulls-no-punches period drama from director Steve McQueen, which stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lupita Nyong'o, Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt, is a striking and magnificent awards season powerhouse.
