7 Movies Still To Come in 2016

Blockbuster season may be done and dusted, but that doesn't mean we're short on movies to look forward to. Spring has sprung and that can only mean one thing - awards season is kicking into gear!

So whilst we're all looking forward to films like Doctor Strange, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and Rogue One, I thought I'd preview some of the smaller, more Oscar-centric films from the next four months that I'm excited for.

Which spring flicks are you pumped to see? Let me know in the comments section down below!

Rank the Films: Bourne Series

As any regular reader of this blog will know, I think lists are pretty darn nifty. I have a profound appreciation for straight-up lists. This is the thinking behind Rank the Films, a regular feature that charts the highs and lows through a series of films, ranking them in order from worst to best.

To celebrate the fifth Bourne film, Jason Bourne, hitting cinemas a few weeks back, I thought I'd reflect on the series as a whole. From 2002's revolutionary first chapter, The Bourne Identity, to the latest collaboration from director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon, I've gone ahead and ranked the five films (to date) from worst to best - question is, where does your favourite sit on my list?

Give it a read and let me know in the comments section down below!

Oscars 2016: The Nominations

Another year, another batch of Oscar nominations has popped into existence. On the whole, I think this was a pretty solid bunch but, as always, there are one or two glaring omissions and snubs that we need to talk about.

Which film(s) do you think missed out on some lovin'? Let me know your thoughts in the comments down below!

My Top 10 Films of 2015

December is coming to a close, and as is the well-established tradition by now, that means it's time to put together a conclusive list of my Top 10 Films from the year.

2015 has been an absolutely stellar year for movies, with piles upon piles of thrilling, immersive and exciting films landing on our cinema screens across the year. Picking a personal Top 10 might seem a little redundant underneath the hundreds of other end of year lists, but I think it's fun and feels like a nice way to round out the year.

So, which ten flicks made the cut this year?

Film Review: Burnt

As the old adage goes, "if you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen". It's a mantra that is echoed by an the elite cult of celebrity chefs - Ramsey, Oliver, uh...those hairy biker dudes - and for Bradley Cooper's character in Burnt, it couldn't be more appropriate.

Film Review: Testament of Youth

Testament of Youth isn’t your usual war film – it’s quiet, emotive and there isn’t an action sequence in sight. Instead, James Kent’s deeply moving direction couples with some breakout performances to make for one of the more poignant wartime tales in recent years, arriving just over a century on from the outbreak of the Great War.

Starring Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington and Taron Egerton, Testament of Youth is one war film you don't want to miss. You can read my full review of Testament of Youth over at Hooked on Film.
