Interview: Michael Caton-Jones

They say variety is the spice of life – an oft-repeated adage that Scottish filmmaker Michael Caton-Jones has found to be self-evident over a directorial career stretching nearly three decades.

Interview: Susanna White

Primetime television drama has been proven to be an effective staging ground for Susanna White’s silver screen career; the veteran British director is best known for her work behind the camera on projects such as Jane Eyre and Generation Kill, both of which were nominated for Emmys. She also won a BAFTA in 2006 for her work on TV serial Bleak House, which starred a young Carey Mulligan.

Interview: Greenfield

Isolation. Prejudice. The fear of being judged by others. These are just a few of the central themes that anchor Greenfield, a new West Australian web series that strives to ground itself in real life situations, and build compelling storytelling through strong characters and relationships.

Through distancing itself from spectacle, and advocating for substance instead, this gritty and hard-hitting drama centres on James (Ethan Tomas), a moody loner who moves to the titular verdant rural town in the hope of starting afresh with his girlfriend Kelly (Marthe Snorresdotter Rovik). However, it’s soon apparent that James’ city boy lifestyle doesn’t gel with the locals, and he finds himself cast out by his peers. As tensions reach boiling point, James must do everything he can to overcome his flair for causing trouble, and ‘fit in’ just as he stands to lose everything.

I recently got the chance to catch-up with the series producer Daniel James Tenni, and director Julius Telmer to chat about what inspired their much-talked about work on Greenfield. You can check out my interview with the pair by clicking here and heading over to Hooked on Film.

Interview: Kimberley Heberley

Emotive. Passionate. Heartfelt. These are just a handful of the superlatives that follow young Aussie songstress Kimberley Heberley around whenever and wherever she performs.

A fresh-faced singer/songwriter from the sleepy suburbs of Perth, this cheery and bright-eyed songstress is steadily making a name for herself through a combination of soulful song writing, sheer talent and a savvy social media schedule that one can expect from our digitally-native generation.

I recently got chance to chat with Kimberley about representing Australia on the world stage and her plans for the future - you can read the full interview over at Avenoir Magazine. Click here to read more.
