2014 Summer Blockbuster Preview

It's May which can only mean one thing; blockbuster season is nearly upon us!

2014 has been a solid year for big movies so far this year - both Captain America and Amazing Spider-man have been ace, as has The Lego Movie. Things are only getting started however, with some of the years biggest movies swimming into view over the next few months. From robotic dinosaurs, apes riding horses to time-travelling mutants and talking raccons, the 2014 blockbuster season has it all...sort of.

Be sure to let me know which big movie you are looking forward to most!

Anyway, here's a run-down of the big movies you can expect to see in cinemas over the next few months here in Australia. And yes, I know it's technically winter. I still refer to these movies as 'summer movies'; force of habit!

Voice of Reason #12: When Sequel Titles Go Wrong!

Whilst writing my most recent Rank the Films feature it occurred to me that the Fast and Furious franchise (on which the feature is centred) is a completely random hodge-podge of numbers, colons and puns. Put simply, the F&F franchise is a complete mess when it comes to sequel naming, potenially the worst out there.

Or is it? Brace yourselves people, because what follows is a fairly long rant/blog post that explores the messy consequences of when sequel titles go bad. This could get ugly...

Marvel Month: Superhero Sell-Outs

We've all heard of product placement in films, but this is just ridiculous. These images of Marvel superheroes emblazoned with sponsors have been doing the rounds on my Facebook News Feed so I took the time to bring them to you as a part of Marvel Month.

Brought to fruition by one extremely talented individual on Behance.net, these brilliant designs see capitalism and comic books converge on one another like never before. What if Coca-Cola started sponsoring Captain America or Iron Man started flogging Macca's? If you've ever pondered the answers to these questions then look no further.
